To create a cooperative and supportive intellectual environment, the program admits only a small number of highly qualified students. Small cohorts ensure close relationships with faculty, robust advising and full funding. The SLIS PhD program is writing intensive and provides structure for students to practice preparation of research results for scholarly conferences and journals. Most students complete the program with several published articles.
As a part of an internationally top ranked research university, SLIS UW-Madison offers students the opportunity to engage in the rich variety of educational experiences offered at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.
