TOEFL
If you submit results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), you need a minimum overall score of 550 for the paper-based test, 213 for the computer-based test, or 80 for the Internet-based test. If you submit results from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), you need an average overall band score of at least 6.5. Only the scores from the Academic Module, not the General Training Module, are applicable.

Note that applicants who seek Departmental assistantship funding are also required to submit scores from the GRE General Test.

PS
The personal essay is required and provides the applicant an opportunity to add a unique voice to the application as well as demonstrate writing ability. The personal essay is a component on the Common Application or the Coalition Application and should range between 250 and 650 words.
GPA
A cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 for your entire undergraduate career or
A grade-point average of at least 3.0 for your last two undergraduate years or
Exceptional work in your entire final undergraduate year (3.5 or better)
Graduate work with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or better even if the undergraduate grade-point average meets the above criteria.
Fee
Submission of the $80 application fee (non-refundable) is available through the chosen application. Check or money order is also an acceptable form of payment and should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions directly with the applicant’s name (as seen on the application) and date of birth. An applicant who indicates fee waiver eligibility on the application should speak with their high school counselor to confirm the fee waiver form or SAT/ACT fee waiver is submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Your application fee will be waived upon receipt of the fee waiver.

Two letters of recommendation are optional, but can distinguish an applicant’s character and are preferred. Recommendation letters can be sent electronically, by fax, or by postal mail.
Transcript
Your submitted high school transcript(s) should include your senior classes, class rank (if applicable), and latest grades earned. Postsecondary official transcript(s) from each institution attended are also required whether or not credit is desired or expected. Transcripts must be submitted to UConn directly from the secondary institution, either electronically or by mail in a sealed envelope.
If you have completed the State High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), an official copy of your diploma and a complete set of scores should be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Official transcript(s) of any work you completed in high school are also required.
All academic credentials not written in English must be accompanied by an official, certified English translation.
