TOEFL
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A total score of 550 with no subscores below 52 (paper version), or 80 with no subscore below 19 (22 for writing section) (Internet-based version) is required. The official report must be received by the Office of Admissions directly from Educational Testing Service.
IELTS
International English Language Testing System (IELTS). A minimum average score of 6.5 is required, with no subscore below 6.0. The official report must be received by the Office of Admissions directly from IELTS.
GRE
GRE – For the GRE, we require a minimum combined score of the verbal and quantitative sections
of 320 and a minimum of 3.5 on the analytical writing section. MSU code: 1465
GMAT
Official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination Test (GRE)
scores, taken within the last 5 years.
o GMAT (Preferred) – A minimum of 500 on the total score and a minimum of 3.5 on the analytical

GPA
Completion of a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree or equivalent* with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a four point scale.
CV
A personal resume with a chronological employment history, professional and community activities, and other recognitions and accomplishments.
Fee
Pay the $75 nonrefundable application fee (drawn on U.S. funds) using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or an electronic check.
RL
Three Letters of Recommendation – Letters of support from pertinent faculty, academic advisors, employers, or other individuals may be mailed directly to The School of Hospitality Business at the address below, or included in the application packet.

Transcript
During the application process, applicants submit certified copies (sealed and stamped by institutions) of all post-secondary transcripts, graduation certificates and degrees directly to the Michigan State University department to which they are applying. MSU requires these documents in the original language (Chinese) as well as an official English translation.
