Statement of Purpose:Applicants must write and upload an essay in the online application. This and all supporting documents help us get to know your work, your goals, and your abilities as a future architect. Your Essay of Motivation should articulate why you are drawn to the profession of architecture in general and to the graduate program in architecture at Utah specifically. Consider what experience prepares you, as well as what particular ambitions you have for your potential studies here at Utah, or how you hope to have changed at the end of your time as a Utah student.While we encourage you to adhere to the rules of good writing, we look for applicants who are not afraid to take risks in their expression. Please don’t hesitate to use a writing style or method that may be outside the mainstream as you express a dynamic position in the essay you submit. Limit your response to a one-page Word document, using Arial 10 pt., 1.5 line spacing, maximum number of words is 500. We recommend that you write your essay of motivation before beginning the online application.

Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better

Provide us with your general background and your educational and professional activities. Your resume should also inform us about your voluntary activities, services to the community and others, and more.
Fee
With submission of your online graduate admission application, you must pay the application fee. Your application will not be fully submitted or processed until the fee is paid. Failure to submit the fee by the December 1st (international students) or January 1st deadline may result in a denial of your application.The non-refundable graduate application fee for international applicants is $65. Applications submitted after the application deadline will incur an additional $30 late fee, even if an academic department has a later deadline. Applications are not complete until the application fee has been paid. Please do not send cash.

Provide three letters of recommendation, at least two from studio professors. The third might be from an employer, professional, or other who may express something insightful about you as a candidate. ?To facilitate this process, you will be asked as part of your online application to enter the names and contact information (including correct email addresses) of your three recommenders. Once that information is saved, an email will automatically be sent to the recommenders with an access code and instructions on how to proceed with the online recommendation. Note that the recommendation requests are sent immediately to the recommenders once you save that information, regardless of whether you have completed your application. Please remind recommenders that letters must be completed and submitted by the December 1st (international students) or January 1st deadline.Applicants requesting letters of recommendation from university professors or instructors will need to provide those persons with a completed Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) waiver form, which can be downloaded here.(http://soa.cap.utah.edu/master-of-architecture/)
Transcript
You will be required to upload an unofficial transcript from each institution that you have attended. Uploading unofficial transcripts will significantly decrease the amount of time required to process your application. Official transcripts will be required if you are admitted.
